The situation
A Romanian mobile app studio needed a commerce backend for a client project. They built the front end; ForkTex built everything behind it. This was the first paid engagement.
What we built
Commerce surface
Users and authentication, product catalogue, reviews, cart and orders on Java and Spring. Discounts covering the three shapes that get used: percentage off, fixed amount off, free shipping.
Settlement and configuration
Cash on delivery and bank transfer, which were the methods the market expected, plus transactional email on order events. Shipping costs, IBAN and mail credentials are runtime configuration, so the studio could stand up an instance without us.
What mattered
Fixed price and fixed scope imposes a discipline worth keeping: everything ambiguous is resolved before work starts, because there is no mechanism to absorb discovery later.
Outcome
Delivered in 2021 on a fixed-price contract, with source and intellectual property transferred on completion.
